2021 For Fool’s Sake Red Wine

Easy to drink and easy to like, the 2021 FFS is an exceptionally round, soft Cabernet Sauvignon featuring ripe red berry and black cherry tones. Pretty violet aromas and a subtle nuance of tobacco leaf compliment the juicy flavors.

This is an everyday red wine, able to excel at the weekend barbecue with friends or help you relax on Monday night after the first day back at work. Will pair well with lasagna, roast chicken, mushroom risotto or a juicy hamburger.

2021 Vintage: If in fact everyone loves a challenge, it would be hard not to love 2021. The weather (at the time) was unprecedented, with over two solid weeks of 100+ (sometimes 110+!) temperatures. While the healthy grape canopy protected our vineyards from sunburn, the heat thickened the skins and reduced yields. Harvest was unusually protracted as ripening stalled on our red wine vineyards in mid-September and we waited to pick until October.

Once the wines were in barrel, selection was key, with some vineyards falling short of initial impressions and others surpassing them. Although quantities were disappointing, exacting blending allowed Foolhardy to make outstanding wines.
